A variety of vistas

Germany’s appeal is so varied that no two trips here are the same. Whether it’s trekking through the Black Forest’s sweeping mountain ranges, partying hard on Hamburg’s world-famous Reeperbahn or delving into the country’s chequered past in Nuremberg, this European powerhouse ticks all kinds of boxes.

Germany city breaks

With the whole country less than two hours away from the UK by plane, Germany’s a top pick for European city breaks, and they all conjure up something different. From Munich’s world-famous beer halls to Cologne’s 1,000-year-old cathedral and Frankfurt’s New York-style skyline, every city has its own distinctive hallmark. One thing they all have in common is their eventful histories – and places like Dresden, Dusseldorf and Nuremberg have all been fully restored to their former glories.

A beeline to Berlin

If you’re wondering where to start on a city break to Germany, make Berlin your first stop. The German capital does a blinder in shopping, sightseeing, and iconic food and drink. And that’s not to mention the city’s turbulent history. If you have to choose just three famous landmarks to visit, make them the Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial, and the graffitied remains of the Berlin Wall.

Beer, bratwurst, and Bavarian beauty spots

Fairytale castles, mysterious forests, and shuttered alpine chalets – the classic image of Germany comes from the southeast state of Bavaria. Munich, Bavaria’s capital, really hits the spot when it comes to food and drink, too. There are six breweries here, and a bevy of beer halls, so you won’t be short of a thirst-quencher while exploring the city. For a snack, try a traditional bratwurst sausage.

What is Germany famous for?

It is famous for its rich traditions, national unity, and stunning landscapes. Germany is also famous for its medieval castles, Bavarian beer halls, and Oktoberfest. In fact Germany is often referred to as "the cultural capital of Europe" because it is home to famous composers such as Beethoven, Bach, and Wagner from the classical period and some of the famous thinkers such as Immanuel Kant and Johann Wolfgang Goethe from the enlightenment period.

Packed with fine culture, cosmopolitan cities, beautiful north beaches, finer art and cultural treasurers, the tourist places in Germany are a dream for all kinds of travellers. Be it strolling around the bustling shopping streets of Munich, sampling classic Berlin schnitzel or dancing the night away at the vibrant nightlife of Hamburg, Germany is in every way an embarrassment for travel places. Visit it anytime of the year and Germany throws at you a variety of festivals. From the Carnival of Cultures in May, Oktoberfest in October to Munich opera festival in July and Berlin Music Festival in September, Germany has everything to spoil the traveller in you and how!

Talk about German cuisine and the very first thing that comes to mind is delicious sausage and German brew. Signature delicacies like pretzel, Schnitzel and Bagels are a culinary delight. And German bread is the best in the world. No qualms about that. With the north beaches, mighty mountains, rugged coastlines, lush country fields, and modern and innovative cities, German is a country where the medieval meets the modern. Germany is known for the finest brew and your trip to Germany is incomplete without sampling Glühwein and Bananenweizen, the classic German drinks while in Munich.

Berlin, Germany’s most cosmopolitan cities is home to castles and medieval architecture that is as old as 600 years. It takes you to a time travel of ancient culture and some history. The well connected cities and excellent transportation options makes your German trip easy breezy. Combine it with the friendliness of the locals and the best tourist places in Greece, and you are all set to take the most unforgettable trip of your life.
